Management of MRICOP/MTSI’s ultimate goal in Cambodia is to develop at least 30,000 hectares oil palm for its sustainable long term business plan in the oil palm plantation and industry sector. However, today it is prohibitive for the company to acquire enough available and suitable land for expanding our existing oil palm plantation to reach this ultimate goal.
MRICOP/MTSI Management has therefore decided that it will not seek any new land acquisition for the expansion of new oil palm planting, instead, Management’s focus is on enhancing and improving the existing oil palm plantation of 16,000 hectares through increasing yield and seeking more competitive advantages in terms of production cost and FFB yield per hectare.
While this is the current MRICOP/MTSI position, if there is any change in the future and that MRICOP/MTSI wants to consider and acquire new land for expanding its oil palm development, Management shall develop and implement a land acquisition procedure in accordance with “Forest Protection Policy” prior to any new land acquisition. Moreover, Management shall make sure that all processes of land acquisition and new oil palm development are also in line with RSPO P&C April 2013, RSPO NPP 2015.
Through this statement, MRICOP/MTSI is committing to adhere to the best sustainable practices of oil palm production in order to enhance local community’s livelihood and operate within our values as a competitive long term, environmentally and socially responsible business.
